Background SpacerRural Streetscape Plan and Rural Business and Tourism Community Improvement Plan

Haldimand Planning and Economic Development Department has initiated a Rural Streetscape Plan and Rural Business and Tourism Community Improvement Plan.

The Rural Streetscape Plan (RSP) is being developed for six identified hamlets:  York; Byng; Port Maitland; Rainham Centre; Fisherville and Selkirk, and will identify recommended improvements to the public places and spaces.  The intent is to improve the physical and visible qualities of the core areas of each hamlet, protect and enhance attributes of the historical crossroads, and increase opportunities for shopping, tourism, and employment.  Streetscaping elements can include lighting, street furniture, decorative cross-walks, and landscaping measures.

The Rural Business and Tourism Community Improvement Plan is a suite of financial incentive programs that support: businesses operating in hamlets, farmers participating in value-added agriculture, commercial roofed accommodation operations, such as bed and breakfasts or motels, and heritage designated properties involved in commercial opperations.

For more information on the Rural Streetscape Plan, please contact Shannon Van Dalen, Planner, at 905-318-5932, ext. 6202 or by e-mail at svandalen@haldimandcounty.on.ca
