An Official Plan is a municipal policy document adopted under the Planning Act. As required by the Planning Act, and Official Plan contains goals, objectives and policies to manage and direct change and its effects on the social, economic and natural environment of the municipality. The Haldimand County Official Plan replaces the Official Plans of the former Regional Municipality of Haldimand-Norfolk and former municipalities of the Town of Haldimand, Town of Dunnville and City of Nanticoke; and incorporates new land use information that will guide and direct planning and development within Haldimand County over the next 20 years.
The terms of reference for the Lakeshore Study was endorsed by Council in February 2004 to determine the profile of the lands associated with the north shore of Lake Erie. The study's purpose is to assist in planning the Lake Erie shoreline to ensure a sustainable and viable shoreline community is created that enhances the natural environment, while encouraging an appropriate economy for the lakeshore area. Work on North Shore Strategies - The Lakeshore Area Study was completed and a draft circulated for Council's and the public's review. Two public open houses relating to the Study were held at the Fisherville Community Centre. One open house was held on 2004 09 16 from 7:00pm to 9:30pm while the other was held on 2004 09 25 from 9:30am to 12:00pm. The public was invited to provide comments on the Study until 2005 01 at which time staff collated and reviewed all submissions. The final study and policy direction for the north shore of Lake Erie will form part of the new Official Plan for Haldimand County.
Due to the size of the files , the Land Use and Node Boundary mapping referred to in the North Shore Strategies Report has not been included on the website.
