Law At Your Library:  Free Legal Workshops on Wills and Powers of Attorney! 


Haldimand County Public Library has partnered with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Community Legal Clinic to provide free legal information workshops. The workshops will provide legal information on the topics of completing a Will and Power of Attorney (POA). Workshop information is presented by a bar registered lawyer who will be open to answering all your legal inquiries regarding Wills and POAs.  

Free legal information workshops locations and dates are:  

Thursday, October 18 at the Selkirk Branch  

Tuesday, October 23  at the Hagersville Branch 

Wednesday, October 24  at the Caledonia Branch 

Tuesday, October 30 at the Dunnville Branch  

Wednesday, November 7 at Cayuga Memorial Arena – McSorley Family Hall (55 Thorburn Street South)

Clear the Clutter & Reclaim Your Space!

Why do we have clutter? How can you clear clutter and improve your life? Learn the answers to these questions and more from a professional organizer at your local Library this fall. All programs begin at 6.30 p.m., are free and are open to everyone! Presented by professional organizer Judy Rickey, owner of Clutter Relief Services.

Author Visit: Write Where We Belong by the Riverside Writers


Book launch and reading by the Riverside Writers of their new publication "Write Where We Belong", a collection of work by four local authors.

Read Ontario author Plum Johnson's They Left Us Everything: A Memoir, a touching, witting and wonderful book about how to deal with a lifetime of things left behind.

 Meet the Author: Saturday, November 3rd at 2 p.m.

Cayuga Arena - McSorley Family Hall

Enjoy a book talk, signing and Q&A session as well as friendly discussion with fellow readers.

Artists & Authors Open House 


Meet and greet a variety of local authors, artists and crafters at this free, open house event at the Dunnville Library, as part of the River Arts Festival. Artists & Authors will include; Susan Hurley (YA/Mystery Author), Brad Smith (Thriller Author), James Durka (Children’s Author) Donna Wark (Recycled Book Art), Steve Hoedt (Photographer) and many more!  

Dunnville Branch: Tuesday, November 13th from 6.30-8.00 p.m.  




Enjoy monthly adult crafting sessions at the Hagersville, Jarvis and Selkirk branches.

Shadow/Heirloom Embroidery - Monday, September 24th from 6:30-8:30p.m.

Embroider a classic initialed handkerchief with French lace trim with Erla Wilson. 

$15.00 per person, all supplies provided. Bring your own 4" hoop or borrow one.

Beginners & Refreshing Bridge – Tuesday, October 2nd, 9th, & 16th at 6:00p.m. 

A three week program building on the fundamentals and ongoing techniques of the international card game Bridge.  

$10.00 per person. Registration required with payment.  


Reunion of Giants Movie Screening – Tuesday, October 30th 6:30p.m.  

View the coming together of the two Lancaster airplanes on a triumphant British tour – Versa, from our local Warplane Museum & thumper. Introduction by Bill Cumming, associate of the Warplane Museum . 

Admission by donation to the Warplane Museum. Refreshments provided. Reserve your seat by October 23rd.  


Christmas Décor Workshop – Monday, November 29th from 6:30-8:30p.,. 

Create a beautiful real greenery arrangement with Karen from Unique Designs! All supplies provided, bring cutters if possible.  

Cost: $50.00 per person. Registration and full payment required by November 12th 


Library Living


A theme-based program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Library Living uses a person-centred approach focusing on enjoyment, inclusivity, and personal growth. The Library has partnered with Community Living Haldimand to provide both learning and entertainment value for individuals.

September 25: Welcome Back!  

Show & Tell – it’s your moment! Bring photos, an object or stories from your summer to share with us. Participate in Library themed activities and get ready for another exciting year of Library Living.

October 9: Under the Sea 

Learn about the mysterious world under the sea: fish, plants, coral and more! Use the ocean to calm yourself by making an “Under the Sea” themed sensory bottle.

November 20: Therapeutic Paws of Canada Therapy Dog Visit 

Furry friends join us from Therapeutic Paws of Canada! Learn about how therapy dogs are trained, how they help and enjoy some time with these friendly furry friends

December 11: Karaoke Party 

Come sing with us – no experience needed! Join us for a fun Karaoke Party including solos, sing-alongs and snacks! You don’t have to sing to enjoy the fun.

February 12: Paper Mache Masks (Part 1 of 2) 

The design of a mask can tell an important story. Learn about masks from around the world and start making your own using Paper Mache in this two part activity.

March 12: Paper Mache Masks    (Part 2 of 2) 

Let’s decorate our masks in styles from around the world! Missed Part 1? Don’t worry, we will have some paintable masks available for you.

April 9: Hobbitstee Wildlife Refuge Visit  

Learn about the Hobbitstee Wildlife Refuge and meet some of the animals they care for.

May 14: Party on the Lawn! 

Kickoff summer with a party on the front lawn! Enjoy yard games and summer themed treats before we break for the summer.

Ukulele Club

Learn to play the ukulele! Join our program, now running Wednesdays at the Dunnville Branch from 2:00pm to 2:45pm or catch the later class from 4:00pm to 4:45pm.

FREE! For adults and children - all ages! Bring your own ukulele or practice on one of ours. Please let us know if you need to borrow an instrument.


Knitting Clubs

Share in the hobby of knitting, crocheting or other yarn crafts with informal, drop-in Knitting Clubs. All experience levels are welcome and the sessions are free! Light refreshments are provided. Please bring your current project and/or supplies. Help is available with reading patterns, pattern and yarn selection, and choosing the right materials. Beginners may also borrow from a limited amount of starter materials available at the sessions. Contact your local branch for more information!

Caledonia Branch: Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, 5:00pm-8:00pm

Dunnville Branch: Every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, 2:00p.m.-4:00p.m.

Jarvis Branch: Every Thursday, alternating 2:00pm-4:00pm one week and 6:00pm-8:00pm the next week. Contact Jarvis Branch 289-674-0400 for meeting schedule and rotation.

The Jarvis Knitting Club will be celebrating World Wide Knit in Public Day with a knitting party on the Library patio. Everyone welcome! Light refreshments will be provided. Bring your yarn crafts! 


Roots to Branches Club

Explore your family tree and learn handy genealogical research techniques during our informal - but informative! - monthly sessions.

Selkirk Branch: Last Saturday of the month, 10:30am - 11:30am.
