All About Bees! An Information Session presented by the Haldimand Norfolk Beekeepers Association

 

This free session, led by professional beekeepers, will include an overview of the delicate lives of bees, the beekeeping economy and the integrity to our local ecosystems followed by a Q&A.

 Try College for FREE: College 101

START DATE EXTENDED TO GIVE YOU TIME TO REGISTER! 

Have you ever wondered if college is for you? This course, presented by Mohawk College, helps adults who are 19+ prepare for success in the college environment. Highschool completion is not required. Priority given to students with no post-secondary experience. Upon completion students receive an elective credit which can be applied to many college courses at Mohawk. 

Topics include: what to expect in college, how to study, time and stress management, critical thinking and planning how to reach education and career goals. 

Cost: FREE!

Where: Caledonia Branch, 100 Haddington Street

When: Thursdays and Fridays

Time: 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.

Dates: May 31 to July 6, 2018.

 Bullet Journal Workshop


 

Get creative and organized with Bullet Journaling, a method of day-to-day organization that is designed to be flexible and adapted to your own style. Learn what it is, why its useful and start your own journal all in one evening!  

All programs take place at 6:30p.m.

These 7 week courses provide valuable and practical information for those wanting to enhance their memory. Topics include memory and aging, learning styles, stress, humour, mental aerobics, nutrition, socialization and more! Practice your skills and challenge your brain, register today!

Ukulele Club


Learn to play the ukulele! Join our program, now running Wednesdays at the Dunnville Branch from 2:00pm to 2:45pm or catch the later class from 4:00pm to 4:45pm.

FREE! For adults and children - all ages! Bring your own ukulele or practice on one of ours. Please let us know if you need to borrow an instrument.

Summer session at the Selkirk Branch starting July 10th! Tuesdays from 6:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. for 6 weeks. Ages 7-99. Bring your own ukulele or borrow one of ours. Registration required. Call 289-674-0400 ext. 6 to register. 

 

Library Living

 

A theme-based program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Library Living uses a person-centred approach focusing on enjoyment, inclusivity, and personal growth. The Library has partnered with Community Living Haldimand to provide both learning and entertainment value for individuals.

Friends of the Jarvis Library


The Friends of the Jarvis Library is a non-profit organization of public service-minded volunteers, dedicated to promoting and supporting library services in our community. New members are always welcome! The Friends of the Jarvis Library host a variety of special events throughout the year including workshops, guest speakers and sales.

An information session by a qualified guest speaker on how to grow and use lavender. Free - Drop in! Stay after for our Friends of the Jarvis Library meeting - learn more about becoming a Friend.

Book Sale – Saturday, May 26th  8:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. on the front lawn of the Jarvis Library.  

Feed your need to read, read, read and find books you can’t live without! 

 Accepting donations of gently used books from May 14 to May 24. Drop off at Jarvis Library, during open hours.

Knitting Clubs


Share in the hobby of knitting, crocheting or other yarn crafts with informal, drop-in Knitting Clubs. All experience levels are welcome and the sessions are free! Light refreshments are provided. Please bring your current project and/or supplies. Help is available with reading patterns, pattern and yarn selection, and choosing the right materials. Beginners may also borrow from a limited amount of starter materials available at the sessions. Contact your local branch for more information!

Caledonia Branch: Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, 5:00pm-8:00pm

Dunnville Branch: Every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, 2:00p.m.-4:00p.m.

Jarvis Branch: Every Thursday, alternating 2:00pm-4:00pm one week and 6:00pm-8:00pm the next week. Contact Jarvis Branch 289-674-0400 for meeting schedule and rotation.

The Jarvis Knitting Club will be celebrating World Wide Knit in Public Day with a knitting party on the Library patio. Everyone welcome! Light refreshments will be provided. Bring your yarn crafts!
