The Haldimand County Public Library is governed by an appointed board which is responsible for the provision of library services throughout the County. The Library has six branches which meet the information, educational and recreational needs of all residents through the provision of the services outlined below.
Save time by browsing our audio-visual collection lists available in PDF format. Lists of our music CDs, VHS videos, and CD-ROMs will also be arriving soon!
Access Ontario government forms and information, including life event packages and documents relating to employment, education, social services, health resources, outdoor and recreation services, driver and vehicle services and small business resources. Examples of popular forms include birth, marriage and death certificate applications, college and university applications, change of name and address forms, automobile license plate renewal forms, road test bookings, outdoor card renewals, etc. The support of the Government of Ontario is acknowledged.
Since 2001, branches of the Haldimand County Public Library have benefited from an innovative partnership with the Haldimand Norfolk Information Centre in Simcoe. The Centre maintains kiosks at the libraries, where provincial government forms and information can be obtained. In addition to common forms such as birth certificate applications, special life event kits have been prepared to guide you through the paperwork required when getting married, having a baby, retiring, or losing your wallet. Our outreach kiosks are now adopting the Province's new ServiceOntario intiative, so look for improved access in the near future! Be sure to search the Centre's online community information database, the most comprehensive, reliable and up-to-date compilation of local information available. The database includes service group and agency contacts, organization listings and area businesses. Whether you are searching for doctors in Jarvis, Scout leaders in Caledonia or Byng Park seasonal hours, you will find it here!
Your Library now offers access from our public computers to the Virtual News Library database. View current and past newspaper articles from local publications including the Dunnville Chronicle, Brantford Expositor, St. Catharines Standard, Welland-Port Colborne Tribune, Niagara Falls Review, Sarnia Observer and Chatham Daily News. Digitized access to other local papers is not yet available. Due to subscription licence costs, access to the above database is available from within the library only. Home accessibility may be negotiated in the future.
The Haldimand County Public Library is pleased to provide public access to computers and the Internet in keeping with its mission statement to provide a welcoming and inclusive community gathering place where people can explore, imagine, discover, relax and connect with each other.
Public computers are available to all library users and offer many resources beyond the Internet: printing and scanning capabilities, access to Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel), and special links to government services.
Computer reservations are automated and require presentation of your library membership card. Users are entitled to 30 minutes of free computer access per day. For each additional half hour or part thereof, a charge of $2.00 applies.
Wireless Access: Wireless Internet access points are now available at all library branches. To use our wireless network, simply register with staff at our circulation counter using your library membership card . You will be provided with a permanent username and password which you can then use to go online.
Free wireless access is available during library hours of operation. There are no time restrictions. Electrical outlets are limited at some of our older facilities, so we recommend bringing a fully-charged battery for your laptop.

The Library gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Government of Canada in the delivery of computer and Internet resources through Industry Canada Community Access Program grants. The Library has been the recipient of numerous grants since the late 1990s which have allowed for the purchase of computer and peripheral equipment, workstations, assistive devices for the visually impaired and, most recently, wireless infrastructure.
Computer and Internet Tutorials: Industry Canada CAP grants also provide funding for computer and Internet tutors at the Library. When these grants are active, staff are available to offer you one-on-one lessons and instruction geared to your individual learning needs. Our tutorials are presented at a speed comfortable to you and use techniques relevant to your personal interests. From simple email lessons to demonstrations on advanced web research methods, we can help make your computing experiences more effective and rewarding. Enquire now about tutor availability … it’s free!
Over 100,000 items to borrow. Interlibrary loan service available to obtain items not held at one of our six branches.
Many resources are available throughout the County to all residents. Books and materials dealing with our towns' histories and local families have been collected at all branches. Special collections are maintained in Selkirk by the North Erie Shore Historical Society, in Dunnville by the Dunnville District Heritage Association, and in Jarvis by dedicated volunteers. These special collections can be viewed by appointment.
