John Fry, a blacksmith and carpenter, was one of the founders of the Plain Folk settlement along Rainham Road in the South Cayuga Township. His house is one of the oldest still standing in South Cayuga. Its three parts (c. 1835, c. 1855, c. 1885) exemplify many of the characteristics of the 19th century Plain Folk architecture.
