Compliance Audit Committee

In accordance with Section 81 of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, Haldimand County Council must appoint a Compliance Audit Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to process any application for a compliance audit of a candidate’s election campaign finances from any elector who believes on reasonable grounds that a candidate has contravened a provision of this legislation with respect to their campaign finances. Legislation requires that this Committee must be appointed prior to October 1, 2018. The term of office for this committee is four years beginning on December 1 2018. The Committee will deal with applications related to the regular election and any by-elections during their term. The Committee shall meet as needed with meetings to be scheduled.

The City of Brantford, the County of Brant, Haldimand County and Norfolk County are currently seeking interested applicants for appointment to a Joint Municipal Elections Compliance Audit Committee. Individuals making application to be appointed to the Municipal committees may also be appointed to serve in a similar capacity for both the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board and the Grand Erie District School Board. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and preference will be given to those who reside or own property in the City of Brantford, the County of Brant, Haldimand County and Norfolk County. Positions on the Municipal Elections Compliance Audit Committee are provided remuneration and mileage payments.
